As senior Dance Teacher at the Johnny Talent School Wendy has taught for over 30 years. Many of her students have gone on to have successful professional careers performing in musical theatre productions such as The Sound of Music, Annie, The Wizard of Oz and more recently the new hit musical Billy Elliot. In 1992 and 1996 Wendy toured the USA with the Melbourne Young Company where the students performed at Disneyland and in 2004 she toured Europe with a group of students who performed in the Macedonian Festival Macfest.

Wendy began her professional dancing career at the age of ten when she became a member of the Junior Nine Ballet performing on GTV Channel 9's "Tarax Happy Show" twice a week for five years. She performed with the "Magic Circle Club" and went on to join the Senior Ballet at Channel 9 performing on "IMT" with Graham Kennedy, Bert Newton, Don Lane and many other TV stars of the time.

During her career as a teacher she has entered children for ballet examinations through the "Royal Academy of Dance" which is one of the most highly recognised institutions of classical ballet in the World. She was also on the advisory panel for the Diploma Course offered at the Box Hill College of TAFE. As a qualified teacher she also adjudicates at many competitions and assesses students for Jazz Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts at both secondary and tertiary levels.

Wendy has choreographed for the Australian Girls Choir, the Royal Melbourne Show, Moomba Festival, Chunky Moves as part of "Arcade", Good Friday Appeal, the Starry Starry night Ball (Allannah and Madeline Foundation) and the Juvenile Diabetes Ball. Wendy co-produced three series of "The Young Talent Show" on Channel 31.
Wendy teaches all styles of dance from Jazz to Ballet, Tap and Funk and has had a 100% pass rate teaching VCE Dance.

The Johnny Young Talent School is excited to have John’s own daughter Anna, student of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, as one of its Senior Singing & Dancing Teachers.

Anna first appeared on Young Talent Time at the age of 4 and was a regular special guest for its duration.

Anna’s career spans over many successful musical theatre productions including "Phantom of the Opera", "Into the Woods", "Annie", "Camelot" and tours with the Walt Disney Company Australia.

Anna now has 4 children of her own and has taken a step back from performing to teach and help produce new young talent within Johnny Young’s school. Anna also compered our own television show on Channel 31 "Young Talent Show" – a program we will be revising in the future

Meet some of our advanced teachers:

Jackie Rae Lythgo studied at some of Australia’s leading arts training institutions including The Victorian College of the Arts and the Johnny Young Talent School, and was awarded a scholarship to Dance Factory’s full-time performing arts course.

Toward the end of her training Jackie Rae performed for many years as a lead Compere of Warner Bros. pantomime’s for Conrad and Co Australia wide along with a list of Corporate, Commercial, TV, Band and Dance credits.

Jackie Rae has consistently worked in the industry & worked with top Australian & International Directors, Music Directors & Choreographers.

Jackie Rae’s professional Music Theatre career began as the "Enchantress" in Disney’s "Beauty And The Beast" in 1996 with Bert Newton, Sharon Millerchip & Toni Lammond. Jackie’s next role was understudying the female lead "Philia" in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" with John English, touring Australia and New Zealand. Other shows and roles include a Hot Box Doll in "Guys & Dolls", "Hello Dolly" and "Annie Get Your Gun" for The Production Company, "Nellie Forbush" cover in "South Pacific", "Grace Farrell" cover and "Ronnie Boylan" in "Annie" with Anthony Warlow, Jane Scali, Phillip Gould & Amanda Muggleton, The role of pink lady "Marty" in "Grease" as well as playing the role of Sandy throughout several parts of the Australian tour.

And last year in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" for MTC & STC covering all 4 female roles & as Marina Prior’s alternate in the role of ‘Rona’ with a small & amazing star cast including Lisa McCune, Magda Szubanski & David Campbell, Jackie also played ‘Olive’ & ‘Logan’.
Jackie has been a member of the Johnny Young Talent School staff for 20 years.
Kathy Mikkesen studied as a music/drama student at Melbourne University College of Advanced Education.

During this time she formed the Abba tribute band Babba which she toured Australasia with for eight years before leaving to have her first child. Over her career Kathy has performed in many different bands ranging from jazz to bluegrass, as well as four years in University choirs and chamber ensembles.

Kathy has been teaching singing at the Johnny Young Talent School since 1987.
